Denver home received nearly $10,000 in energy-efficient home improvements

DENVER (March 9, 2012) – When people make energy-efficient improvements to their home they can not only decrease their utility bills significantly, but can also increase the overall comfort of their home. In November 2011, Xcel Energy announced two lucky winners of the Xcel Energy Makeover Contest. The winning homes, in Denver and Grand Junction, had higher-than-average energy bills and were given an energy makeover worth up to $10,000 to improve the overall energy efficiency of the homes and lower energy bills.

WHAT:            Join us as the Xcel Energy Makeover Contest team unveils the energy-efficiency changes they made to the winning home in Denver to make the home more energy efficient and to lower energy bills. The team will take you through the home to talk about the whole-house solution the home underwent and why each change was made. Interviews with the home owners will also be available.

This past year, Britt Inger and Jeffrey Scott of Denver were the winners. Not only did they receive 10 Duette ® Architella ® Honeycomb shades from us and 2 battery-operated Skylight shades, but also an energy audit, new furnace, insulation & air sealing, duct work, and new windows. The final completion of the home should take place this month! The program is administrated by EGIA.
